Singer Kim Sang-hyuk, 43, visits matchmaking agency — and learns living with mom could be a dealbreaker

Kim Sang-hyuk, a singer best known as a member of the group Click-B, visited a matchmaking agency to assess his prospects on the marriage market — and found that despite strong finances, one aspect of his lifestyle raised concerns.

The visit aired Friday on Channel A's variety program "Sinrang Sueop 2" (Groom School 2), which followed Kim after a blind date had not worked out.

"I came to get an expert's assessment of where I stand in the marriage market and to get a clearer picture of myself," Kim said on the show. "I think I need to be more objective about myself."

A couple manager explained that she would evaluate Kim's marriage prospects based on his profile, including his preferences and deal-breakers.

Kim said he was serious about getting married and asked whether there was a big difference between matching first-time and remarrying candidates.

"These days, with divorce so common, the chances of remarriage are also quite high," the couple manager said.

On what he was looking for in a partner, Kim said he hoped for someone close to his own age. "If the age gap is too wide, we might not be compatible in our later years," he said, adding that any profession was fine as long as it was legal.

As Kim filled out his profile in earnest, his personal details were revealed one by one.

Now 43, Kim drew praise for his youthful appearance. Standing 179 centimeters tall, he was told that "these days, men's height and looks matter a lot."

On his educational background, Kim said he had enrolled in university in 2002 but had not graduated.

He said he currently runs a clothing store and is also involved in bag design, modeling and the food and beverage industry.

His finances stood out: Kim said his annual income ranges from 100 million won ($70,700) to 250 million won, and that his assets include roughly 100 million won in cryptocurrency and shares, about 100 million won in cash, and a home he owns outright.

The couple manager flagged concerns beyond his finances — specifically the stability of his income sources and the fact that he currently lives with his mother.

On the living arrangement, she said, "The fact that he respects and cares for his mother could be appealing to some women, but it could also be a turnoff for others."

Kim debuted in 1999 with Click-B and enjoyed wide popularity. In 2019, he married Song Da-ye, the CEO of a shopping mall who is six years his junior, but the couple divorced after about a year.
