Actor Kang Bu-ja said she could forgive a husband for an affair — so long as he did not father a child outside the marriage. The remark prompted a stunned response from host Kim Ju-ha, who revealed her ex-husband had done exactly that.
Kang appeared on MBN's "Kim Ju-ha's Day and Night," which aired Saturday, to discuss her marriage and her views on relationships.
Kang said she could overlook a husband staying out for three nights in a row, explaining, "You just put up with it — what else can you do? A married man cooped up at home all the time feels suffocated. Men need room to breathe."
She added that as long as she knew where her husband was and that nothing serious had happened, that would be enough.
Kim then asked what she would do if her husband simply packed his bags and left.
Kang brushed the question aside. "Why would he pack up and leave? Even if he went out, wouldn't he come back home knowing his family is there?"
Kim responded with a bitter expression, saying, "But that's exactly what happened." She then asked, "How far is a wife supposed to forgive a husband?"
After a brief pause, Kang said she could forgive almost anything — "as long as he doesn't bring home a child from somewhere else." Kim hesitated for a moment, then quietly said, "He did."
The unexpected answer left Kang visibly flustered. "That," she said, "is a bit too much to handle."
Meanwhile, Kim married in 2004 and had two children, but filed for divorce in 2013 citing her husband's infidelity and assault. The divorce was finalized in June 2016. In the ruling, Kim was awarded custody and parental rights, along with 50 million won ($35,300) in consolation damages, while her ex-husband was ordered to pay 1.021 billion won in asset division.
