Yeongdeungpo-gu District Mayor Jo Yu-jin kicked off the "2026 Ulchi" civil defense CPX for national emergency preparedness Tuesday morning, substituting emergency rations for breakfast.
Jo encouraged employees who had responded to the emergency call-up and reaffirmed the importance of national security by sampling the emergency rations under a simulated wartime scenario.
She also personally inspected the wartime integrated situation room and inter-agency coordination systems, urging staff to maintain a thorough readiness posture to protect the lives and safety of Yeongdeungpo residents.
"Thorough training in peacetime to prepare for contingencies is the most fundamental and reliable way to protect the lives and safety of our residents," Jo said. "Please approach the exercise with the kind of tension that mirrors real combat, while staying alert to safety incidents."
