Chilgok war memorial museum seeks to buy Korean War artifacts from public

The Chilgok Hoguk Peace Memorial Museum in North Gyeongsang Province announced Wednesday that it will accept public offers to sell Korean War-related historical and lifestyle artifacts through Sept. 7.

Items of interest include medals and decorations, clothing, maps, documents, books, publications, photographs and video materials related to the Korean War.

However, illegally excavated or stolen artifacts, as well as items whose acquisition history or provenance cannot be clearly established, are ineligible for submission.

Submitted artifacts will go through a review by an artifact evaluation committee and an online public disclosure process before a decision is made on whether to purchase them and at what price. Acquired items will be registered as part of the museum's collection and used for academic research and exhibition.

Inquiries can be directed to the operations team of the Chilgok-gun facility management office in North Gyeongsang Province.

"We look forward to the participation of dedicated collectors so that more visitors can widely appreciate the value of these precious artifacts," a museum official said.
