Dongwon F&B announced Wednesday it is entering the frozen chicken market with the launch of two new products under the "Kebasak" line.
The name draws on the sound of biting into freshly fried chicken. The lineup consists of Kebasak Fried Chicken and Kebasak Chili Mayo Chicken, both made with 100% chicken thigh meat and ready to eat after about 10 minutes in an air fryer.
The products use what the company calls an "air-crisp method," which introduces tiny air bubbles into the batter to maximize crunchiness while evenly distributing fat throughout for consistent quality. A "double-frying process" — cooking the chicken thigh meat twice, once at low heat and once at high heat — adds a crispy exterior and juicy interior.
The products are manufactured at Dongwon F&B's Jincheon Plant No. 2 in Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province, which was recently completed. The facility is equipped with European production equipment and quality-control systems, including a monitoring system that tracks the oxidation level of frying oil and a cooking method that minimizes temperature variation in the frying equipment.
"We developed this product so people can enjoy the crunch of freshly fried chicken at home, just as they would at a restaurant," a Dongwon F&B official said. "Our goal is for frozen chicken to establish itself as an independent choice — not just a substitute for delivery chicken — and to set a new standard in the market."
Kebasak is priced at 7,980 won ($6) for a 250-gram pack and 10,980 won for a 350-gram pack. It is available at hypermarkets, discount stores and major online retailers nationwide.
