Presidential Security Office holds emergency meeting after North Korea fires missiles

South Korea's Presidential Security Office convened an emergency security review meeting Thursday, with the Ministry of National Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and other relevant agencies in attendance, after North Korea fired more than 10 short-range ballistic missiles from the Pyongyang area into the Donghae.

At the meeting, the office reviewed South Korea's response posture, assessed the impact of the launches on national security and issued instructions on necessary follow-up measures.

The office said it would "ensure full readiness given that the launches occurred during the ongoing Ulchi CPX period," adding that "North Korea's ballistic missile launches constitute a grave violation of UN Security Council resolutions and must stop immediately."
