Dongjak-gu, led by District Mayor Ryu Sam-young, will offer free vehicle inspections ahead of the Chuseok holiday to help residents drive safely during the holiday season.
The district has run the pre-holiday free inspection program since 2017, giving residents the chance to check their vehicles for problems before long-distance trips and prevent accidents. The program has drawn strong interest each year, with slots filling up quickly.
This year's inspection will be held Sept. 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the first-floor piloti of the Dongjak-gu Office.
The Dongjak chapter of the Seoul Central Automobile Maintenance Business Cooperative is organizing the event, with 10 mechanics on hand to inspect key components including the engine and brakes. Fluids such as oil and antifreeze will be topped off as needed, and consumables including wipers and light bulbs will be replaced on the spot depending on their condition.
Vehicles requiring more detailed inspections or repairs will be referred to professional repair shops, while minor issues that can be addressed on site will be fixed immediately.
The inspection is open to 200 passenger vehicles owned by Dongjak-gu residents. Taxis, rental cars, foreign-brand vehicles and electric vehicles are excluded.
Registration opens Sept. 3 through the Dongjak-gu integrated reservation system, with 40 slots available per time slot on a first-come, first-served basis.

"Even if you don't notice anything wrong with your car day to day, it's important to check its condition regularly," District Mayor Ryu said. "A simple inspection can prevent inconvenience and danger on the road, so I encourage as many residents as possible to take advantage of this free service."
