The Sangmidang Holdings Happy Foundation announced Friday it would deliver emergency relief supplies, including bread and bottled water, to Geoje in South Gyeongsang Province, which has been hit hard by heavy rainfall.
Working with the Korean Red Cross, the foundation is delivering 1,000 loaves of bread and 1,000 bottles of water — 2,000 items in total — to the Dunduk township office in Geoje. The supplies are intended for local flood victims and workers engaged in recovery efforts.
"We will continue providing support wherever it is needed so that affected areas can return to normal life as quickly as possible," a foundation official said.
Sangmidang Holdings regularly partners with the Korean Red Cross to provide relief supplies and donations when national disasters or emergencies occur. On Aug. 11, the company distributed 25,500 bottles of water across five regions — Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, Incheon, Gangwon Province and North Gyeongsang Province — to help people cope with extreme heat. Last July and August, it also delivered 28,000 relief items, including bread and water, to areas in the Chungcheong, Honam, South Gyeongsang and Jeolla regions hit by heavy rain.
