Six-member Enhypen calls new mini album 'best of our career'

"This is the best album of our career."

Enhypen, regrouped as a six-member act, returned with a bold declaration ahead of their latest release.

At a press showcase held before the release of their eighth mini album, "The Sin : Bliss," the group said they had stayed focused throughout. "We always feel the same way," they said. "We concentrated solely on creating something better."

The album arrives roughly seven months after their seventh mini album, "The Sin : Vanish," released in January, and marks the group's first official release as a six-piece following member Heeseung's departure in March to pursue a solo career under the name Evan.

Despite the psychological pressure that could have accompanied the transition to a six-member lineup, the members said they remained united and unwavering.

Leader Jungwon said the group had Australia performances just two to three days after the restructuring, and that the experience sharpened their resolve. "We are ultimately judged by our fans through what we show on stage," he said, "so we focused entirely on delivering the best, most professional performance we could."

"In any situation, the stage and the performance come first," he added. "From the recording stage onward, we focused not on the number of members but on how to produce the best possible result."

Jungwon also expressed gratitude to the group's fandom, "Engene," reflecting on a world tour that began with Seoul concerts in May and continued through North and South America before wrapping up with Busan performances on Aug. 8 and 9.

"Touring gave us so much energy from Engene, and it confirmed that they feel the same way we do," he said. "That energy is what kept us going without burning out all the way to this comeback."

Member Jake also expressed strong confidence in the six-member lineup. "This is an album the six of us made together, and I'm genuinely proud of it," he said. "We're back with incredibly cool, high-energy tracks, so please look forward to what Enhypen has in store." Youngest member NI-KI said he was "happy to be able to show Engene a new side of us."

"The Sin : Bliss" is the conclusion of "The Sin" series, a narrative arc built around the motif of sin. Its 10 tracks follow a vampire and his human lover — who had gone into hiding in the previous album — as they face external threats and internal conflict before finally embracing the blessing of being together. The title track "Bloody Paradise" leads a lineup that includes "Two Fools," an interlude-format track "Sokbo," "Stuck," "Bad For You," "Sarangeui Janhae," "Choehuui Sungan," "Checkmate," old-school hip-hop track "Highlight" and closing track "Gaeryeojin Jinsil" — each song interlocking like chapters of a single drama series.

Jay described it as "a concept album where the narrative, lyrics and sound are all organically connected." "If you listen from the beginning — narration and tracks in order — you'll feel deeply immersed, as if you're watching a radio show or mystery show set in vampire society," he said.

Jay also noted that a news-bulletin track recorded with the help of a professional announcer added to the album's sense of realism. The album features MBC "News Desk" anchor Kim Su-ji, who both wrote and narrated the bulletin segment. Actor Park Jung-min, Japanese voice actor Tsuda Kenjiro and Chinese singer Huang Zihongfan also joined as narrators, expanding the scale of the album's fictional universe.

The title track "Bloody Paradise" marks the first time Enhypen has led with Brazilian funk dance as a genre since the group's formation. The track combines the burst of a kick drum, distorted electric guitar and an addictive chorus to generate raw energy. It was produced by Julia Lewis, who has helmed hits for pop star Bad Bunny, with lyrics by Gaeko of hip-hop duo Dynamic Duo.

Sunoo described the song as carrying "the message that as long as you have the person you love, even while being dangerously chased, that place becomes paradise." "The melody hooks you and it's highly addictive — I think it will receive a lot of love," he said. Sunghoon recalled that when he first heard it, "it felt distinctly different from everything we had done before," adding that he had previously dipped into Brazilian funk through a remix version of "Knife," the title track from the seventh mini album. He likened the track to "special tteokbokki from a fine-dining restaurant" — tteokbokki being an everyday street food that is sweet, salty and bold, elevated here into something more refined. Jake said the group "wanted to use the new genre as an opportunity to prove the expanded spectrum of the team."

The members were openly proud of the album. Jay said that while the group rigorously monitors the music, choreography and music videos for every release, this time all six members unanimously agreed that "the quality of every element is perfect" — an unusually unanimous verdict. "There is less to regret about this album than anything else in our entire career," he said. "We will promote it with the conviction that this is the most satisfying and most brilliantly shining album in Enhypen's history." Jake said he was also eyeing "meaningful results not only on domestic music charts but on Billboard's main charts in the United States."

Enhypen debuted through the 2020 survival talent show "I-Land" and will enter their seventh year under a standard exclusive contract next year. Asked about potential contract renewals, leader Jungwon said discussions had not yet reached a concrete stage, but added, "We will work through it wisely together as members so that we can always bring good news to our fans." He also said the group would "fill every stage to the fullest with Enhypen's own color," and expressed his hope that "everyone who listens to the album will encounter bliss — just as the title says."
