Huons capped a dominant run in the PBA Team League's second round by winning their final match, finishing with a perfect record and a 10-game winning streak.
On Thursday, at the indoor gymnasium of Hwaseong General Sports Town in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, Huons defeated Hana Card 4-3 in a full-set thriller on the final day of the Welcome Savings Bank PBA Team League Hwaseong Special City Tour 2026-2027.
Huons had already clinched the round title with a win over NH NongHyup Card on Wednesday, but they completed a clean sweep by also taking down Hana Card. The feat made them only the second team in PBA Team League history to win a round without a single loss, following NH NongHyup Card's perfect run in Round 3 of the 2023-24 season. Huons also became the third team to reach 10 consecutive wins, joining NH NongHyup Card (2023-24 season) and SK Rent-a-Car (2025-26 season).
The round title secured Huons a postseason berth — a ticket shared by the five regular-round winners — joining Woori Financial Capital among the qualified teams. The victory also earned them the round winner's prize of 10 million won ($7,130), an award introduced this season.
Kang Dong-gung, a transfer player who joined Huons as the first overall pick in the second round of this season's draft, was named Round 2 MVP. He posted a 9-4 record across 13 matches — 6-1 in singles and 3-3 in doubles — with an average of 2.000, playing a key role in the team's title run. A veteran of the PBA Team League since its inaugural season, Kang claimed his first-ever league MVP award.
At a post-victory press conference, Huons leader Choi Sung-won said he never saw it coming. "I never thought a day like this would come. I'm deeply moved. I think the team members performed so well that we were able to get this result," he said. "The team is on a 10-game winning streak, and I'd love to break the all-time record while we're at it. We want to go beyond NH NongHyup Card's 14-game streak and reach 15. The way we're playing right now, I just don't see us losing."
The PBA will hold Round 3 of the Team League in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, in September. Before that, the Dream Tour (second division) fourth leg will run from Aug. 29 through Sept. 1 at the Goyang Kintex PBA Stadium in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.
