T'way Air marks 2nd anniversary of Incheon-Rome route

T'way Air announced Friday that its Incheon-Rome route — the carrier's flagship long-haul European service — has marked its second anniversary.

Since its inaugural flight on Aug. 8, 2024, the Incheon-Rome route has operated more than 530 round-trip flights, carrying approximately 245,000 passengers in total. Entering its second year, the route has maintained steady load factors not only during the summer peak season but also through the spring and autumn off-peak periods, establishing a stable year-round demand base.

By nationality, passengers were led by South Koreans, followed by Italians, Japanese, Chinese and Americans, with a roughly even gender split. Travelers in their 20s and 30s accounted for the largest share of total passengers, and the route has built a broad customer base spanning solo Free Independent Travel passengers, business travelers and family groups, cementing its status as a leading European service.

The route has also delivered strong cargo results. Using the belly cargo holds of wide-body aircraft — including the A330-200 and B777-300ER — the airline transported a cumulative approximately 6,900 tons of air freight over the past two years. High-value cargo such as automotive parts, precision machinery and e-commerce shipments has been carried steadily, contributing to diversified revenue streams.

The Incheon-Rome route currently departs Incheon International Airport at 12:35 p.m., arriving at Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Airport at 7:15 p.m. local time. The return flight departs Rome at 9:15 p.m., arriving back in Incheon at 4:10 p.m. Korea time the following day.

Aircraft on the route are equipped with lie-flat business class seats, offering long-haul travelers a comfortable flying experience. All passengers receive two complimentary in-flight meals on a one-way basis, among other value-oriented services.

T'way Air recently unveiled its Selective Service Carrier strategy and is preparing to launch operations under the new name Trinity Airways in the second half of the year. The SSC model selectively tailors services to match the characteristics of each route and the travel purposes of its customers, raising both operational efficiency and customer satisfaction at the same time.

The airline plans to further strengthen its position as a leading carrier through the continued introduction of next-generation aircraft — the A330-900NEO mid-to-large widebody and the B737-8 — before the end of the year, building differentiated services and route competitiveness.
