Girls' Generation unit Hyorisoo set for debut with 'Skibidi'

Girls' Generation's long-awaited subunit Hyorisoo — comprising Hyoyeon, Yuri and Sooyoung — is finally ready to make its official debut.

According to agency SM Entertainment, Hyorisoo will release its new digital single "Skibidi" across all major music platforms at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, kicking off its official activities.

The single features two tracks: the title track "Skibidi" and the B-side "Lowkey In Love."

"Skibidi" opens with a house beat before shifting into hip-hop, with Arabian string samples woven throughout that lend the track an exotic tension. The genre-blending structure and its straightforward message of forging one's own path capture Hyorisoo's distinctive energy. "Lowkey In Love," meanwhile, is a retro-flavored dance-pop track that pairs brass sounds with groove for an upbeat, lively feel.

Ahead of the release, Hyorisoo previewed both new songs Saturday at the 2026 CassCool Festival, held at Seoul Land in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province.

The Hyorisoo project grew out of a segment called "Fake Kim Hyoyeon" on Hyoyeon's YouTube channel "Hyo's Level Up." The members' playful rivalry over the main vocalist and center positions — framed as a challenge to Girls' Generation's original subunit TaeTiSeo (Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun) — drew a strong response and ultimately led to a full-fledged release.
