Seoul's Eunpyeong-gu district will host "Formed Instant," a group exhibition featuring three local artists, at Samgaksan Geumam Art Museum from Sept. 3 through Nov. 22, the district announced.
A preview event will be held at the museum on Sept. 2 at 2 p.m.
The exhibition brings together three artists who each capture fleeting moments in nature through their own medium, stepping outside the conventions of traditional landscape painting to offer a contemporary reinterpretation of the natural world.
The participating artists are Min Yeon-sik (photography), Ahn Min-hwan (sculpture) and Oh Jeong-il (painting), each tracing the passage of time spent in nature through a distinct genre.
Min photographs mountains and waterfalls in darkness, using long exposures to convey stillness and an inner world. Ahn draws on physical sensations accumulated through rock climbing and geological data to render the materiality of mountains and rock formations. Oh layers paint with his fingerprints to express the dynamism of fountain droplets and the finite nature of life.
Eunpyeong-gu District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung said Eunpyeong, nestled at the foot of Bukhansan, has long been a rich source of inspiration for artists. "I hope visitors will feel the new expressions of nature and the beauty of fleeting moments that these three artists have shaped through their own perspectives, amid the tranquil scenery of Eunpyeong Hanok Village," she said.
