Chuncheon Mayor Yuk Dong-han on Monday confirmed the reappointment of Park Jong-hoon as chairman of the Chuncheon Culture Foundation and presented him with an appointment certificate.
Park, who took office in September 2024, has built an artist-centered support system and expanded locally distinctive cultural programs in early music, ballet, puppet theater and mime, as well as the foundation's arts retail network. He also strengthened fiscal management by securing about 6 billion won ($4.34 million) through external grant competitions and cutting carryover expenditures by 1.7 billion won.
The city said it decided to reappoint Park after weighing the foundation's performance over the past two years, the need for continuity in cultural policy, and his understanding of and experience with the local arts scene. His new term runs through Sept. 9, 2028.
During his new term, Park plans to support the creative development and growth of local artists, expand opportunities for residents to engage with culture, and strengthen the foundation's content to build a sustainable base for the region's cultural and artistic growth.
"I hope Chairman Park will build on his achievements and experience to further expand opportunities for local artists to grow and for citizens to enjoy culture, and to create cultural content that is distinctly competitive and uniquely Chuncheon's own," Mayor Yuk said.
