Seoul's Gangseo-gu district office signed an agreement Monday with baby care company Upang Co. to support the healthy development of infants and ease the financial burden on families raising young children.
District Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon and Upang CEO Park Dong-hyun attended the MOU signing ceremony at the district office to formalize the partnership for a baby bottle sterilizer lending program.
Under the agreement, Upang will donate 30 baby bottle sterilizers to the district. The company has also committed to after-sales service, including repairs in the event of a product malfunction.
Families borrowing the sterilizers will also receive discount coupons for Upang products.
The district will handle administrative support, operating the lending service through its toy libraries to ensure as many residents as possible can benefit.
The sterilizer lending service will be available at three toy library locations — in Balsan 1-dong, Hwagok 1-dong and Hwagok 6-dong.
Residents of Gangseo-gu with children aged 5 or under, as well as people employed at businesses in the district, are eligible to use the service.
"As the saying goes, it takes a whole village to raise a child — parenting is that demanding, and community attention and support are truly essential," Jin said. "We will do our utmost to make Gangseo a place where both children and parents can be happy."
