Inspire Resort teams up with JYP, HearCycle to help hearing-impaired fans enjoy live shows

A performance venue and entertainment companies are joining forces on a public-interest project to lower barriers for people with hearing disabilities attending cultural events.

Inspire Entertainment Resort announced Monday that it is partnering with JYP Entertainment and the nonprofit HearCycle to improve concert access for people with hearing loss. The collaboration is part of Inspire's ESG initiative called Sound Beyond Hearing.

Inspire will operate an Auracast-based assistive listening system at Inspire Arena in connection with performances by JYP Entertainment artists. Auracast wirelessly transmits concert audio directly to hearing aids or cochlear implants, allowing users to hear sound more clearly. Inspire will provide a dedicated skybox as a listening space, handle transmitter installation and on-site technical operations, and collaborate on producing participant testimonial content.

People with hearing aids or cochlear implants have long struggled at large concert venues to distinguish an artist's voice and lyrics from speaker sound, crowd noise and venue reverberation. The project carries added significance as South Korea is set to require assistive listening equipment in public facilities starting in November, making this collaboration a model for applying the technology in a real concert environment at a private venue.

The partnership will kick off with performances by JYP artists including 2PM and DAY6's Young K, and is expected to continue through the second half of the year. Inspire said it will continuously review ways to improve venue accessibility based on operational results and participant feedback.

"Through this project, we will build operational experience in improving concert accessibility and work toward an inclusive environment where more concertgoers can share in live performance culture."
