Singer Lim Young-woong donates W200m to heavy rain victims in Geoje, Tongyeong

Singer Lim Young-woong and his agency have stepped up to help residents affected by heavy rainfall that struck southern South Korea, including Geoje and Tongyeong.

According to the Community Chest of Korea, Lim and his agency Mulgogimusic jointly donated 200 million won ($145,000) under the name of his fan club, "Yeongung Sidae."

The Community Chest of Korea said the funds will go through its "2026 Heavy Rain Damage Special Fundraising" campaign toward emergency relief, temporary housing support and recovery assistance for flood victims in Geoje, Tongyeong and other parts of South Gyeongsang Province.

Since 2021, Lim has consistently donated on his birthday, during holidays and in the wake of natural disasters. Including this latest contribution, his cumulative donations through the Community Chest of Korea alone have reached 2.5 billion won. Adding the 200 million won he gave directly to Korea University Medical Center earlier this year to cover medical costs for low-income and vulnerable patients, his total giving comes to 2.7 billion won.

Fans have also rallied behind his charitable efforts. When wildfires swept through the Yeongnam region last year, Lim and Mulgogimusic donated 400 million won for recovery and relief, while fan club Yeongung Sidae raised an additional 600 million won through a voluntary fundraising drive.

Lim marks his 10th debut anniversary this year and will hold a solo concert at Goyang Stadium in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, from Sept. 4 to 6. He will also release a special digital album, "IM HERO 10," on Sept. 8.
