UNICEF Korea, virtual idol group Plave team up for children's welfare

UNICEF Korea and virtual idol group Plave have joined forces to support children around the world, the organization announced Monday.

As the first initiative under the partnership, UNICEF Korea will launch the "UNICEF Team" campaign with Plave's participation, with plans to continue charitable activities for children globally.

"We are truly happy and honored to take part in this meaningful UNICEF Team campaign alongside our PLLI fans," Plave said. "We will cheer on the many children around the world so they never lose sight of their dreams, even in difficult circumstances."

During the campaign period, fans who sign up for regular donations through the UNICEF Team campaign page will receive the "Plizm White" special edition UNICEF Team bracelet, created to commemorate the social contribution agreement between UNICEF Korea and Plave.

Plave is a five-member virtual boy group under agency Blast that performs using real-time motion capture technology. The group has built a strong global fandom on the strength of its distinctive musicality, with members writing their own lyrics, composing music and choreographing their own performances.

Lee Sung-gu, chief executive of Blast, said he was "very pleased to be able to share positive energy with children around the world," adding that the company would "continue to spread good influence and carry out meaningful activities together with Plave."

UNICEF is a UN agency that works for children worldwide across health, nutrition, water and sanitation, education, protection and emergency relief. UNICEF Korea serves as the organization's representative body in the country, raising funds for children globally and promoting children's rights domestically through initiatives such as its child-friendly society program.

Cho Jae-sung, head of corporate partnerships at UNICEF Korea, expressed sincere gratitude to Plave "for joining us in this warm act of giving for children around the world," and said the organization would "continue to work with Plave on a variety of activities to bring hope to children across the globe, building on this agreement as a starting point."
