Musical actor Yang Jun-mo to remarry former Spica member Yang Ji-won, who reveals pregnancy

Musical actor Yang Jun-mo, 46, and Yang Ji-won, 38, a former member of the girl group Spica who has since pursued an acting career, are getting married.

Yang Jun-mo announced Monday on Instagram that he had divorced his previous spouse and is now remarrying.

"There was someone who became a warm source of strength by my side and helped me find my smile again — someone I am deeply grateful for and love," he wrote. "I am now ready to become a family with that person and begin a new life." He added that the two would be each other's best friend and steadfast supporter, and that he hoped to live well, laughing and loving together.

He also disclosed that he had divorced composer Maeng Seong-yeon, whom he married in 2009, in 2023. He said he had delayed making the divorce public out of concern that their daughter would be hurt by the news.

Yang Jun-mo did not name his new partner in his post, but the marriage was confirmed when Yang Ji-won shared wedding photos of the two on her own social media the same day.

Yang Ji-won also revealed that she is pregnant. "We had originally planned to marry in early next year, but thankfully a new life has come to us, and I will become a mother at 40 next year," she said, adding that the couple planned to hold the ceremony a little sooner than originally scheduled.

Yang Jun-mo is best known for playing Ahn Jung-geun, the lead role in the musical "Yeongung" (Hero). The song he performs in the show, "Who Is the Criminal," has become widely recognized beyond musical theater fans. He has also played the Phantom in "The Phantom of the Opera," Jean Valjean in "Les Misérables," and Jekyll in "Jekyll & Hyde."

Yang Ji-won rose to prominence with Spica's song "Russian Roulette" and later competed on the idol competition program "The Unit," through which she re-debuted as part of the group Unity. She has since appeared in supporting roles in various drama series.
