Volvo Car Korea announced Tuesday that its next-generation all-electric flagship ES90 has been named "Media Pick EV" at the 5th EV Awards 2026, held at COEX.
Now in its fifth year, EV Awards 2026 is a leading domestic electric vehicle awards program hosted by the Ministry of Climate, Environment and Energy and co-organized by the Korea Battery Industry Association, COEX and the Korea Automobile Environment Association. Since 2022, the program has recognized outstanding technologies and products across the EV industry — including electric vehicles and charging infrastructure — establishing itself as the country's premier EV awards event.
This year's awards covered electric vehicles launched in South Korea between August 2025 and July 2026. The ES90 took the Media Pick category, newly introduced this year to highlight superior technology and innovative products for consumers, with selections made entirely by automotive journalists affiliated with the Korea Automotive Press Association.
The ES90 is Volvo Cars' next-generation flagship model, developed to carry the sedan's heritage into an electrified future. It delivers advanced safety and user experience through "Hugin Core," an intelligence platform co-developed with global technology leaders including Nvidia and Qualcomm. The model also features the latest 800V battery technology supporting 350-kilowatt ultra-fast charging, enabling a range of 300 kilometers in just 10 minutes. Priced at roughly 50 million won ($36,200) below comparable major global markets to drive expansion of the premium electric vehicle segment, the ES90 has surpassed 3,000 cumulative orders to date.
"It is especially meaningful that the ES90 — our next-generation flagship model heralding a new era of safety and electrification — has been recognized by automotive journalists who are closest to global EV trends and the latest technologies," said Lee Man-sik, executive vice president of Volvo Car Korea. "As a Swedish luxury brand committed to the freedom to move safely and sustainably, we will continue to reflect on our role and work to grow alongside the Korean market."
Meanwhile, Volvo Car Korea has been broadening its customer touchpoints through various marketing activities, including providing vehicles for the Coupang Play series "The Affair Was Just the Beginning" and the tvN weekend drama series "Spellbound."
