New and returning customers eligible for up to 30,000 won in gift vouchers through end of October
Samsung Securities is stepping up its push to attract brokerage individual savings account (ISA) customers, offering incentives to new sign-ups, returning account holders and customers transferring assets from rival firms.
The brokerage announced Thursday it will run a "Brokerage ISA Jump-Up! Event" for new and existing brokerage ISA customers through Oct. 31.
The campaign consists of three components: a Welcome Event for new customers, a Re-Start Event aimed at lapsed account holders, and a transfer event for customers moving ISA assets from other financial institutions.
The Welcome Event targets customers who open a brokerage ISA for the first time during the promotional period and make a net deposit of at least 1 million won ($722) by the end of October. Participants can receive gift vouchers worth up to 30,000 won, depending on the deposit amount.
The Re-Start Event is designed for customers who previously held a brokerage ISA and are returning to active investing. Those who make a net deposit of at least 1 million won during the event period can receive gift vouchers worth up to 30,000 won, based on the deposit tier.
The transfer event targets customers who move ISA assets held at other financial institutions to Samsung Securities. Rewards of up to 600,000 won in gift vouchers are available, depending on the amount transferred.
All three events require participants to maintain a balance at least equal to their net deposit through Nov. 30. Benefits cannot be combined across events.
An ISA is a tax-advantaged account that allows holders to manage a range of financial products under a single account. The brokerage ISA type is particularly popular among investors because it enables direct investment in domestically listed shares and ETFs through a securities firm. For brokerages, ISA accounts are also a key customer acquisition tool, as they allow firms to manage client investment assets over the long term.
Beyond the promotional events, Samsung Securities also offers a range of features through its mobile trading system (MTS) mPOP to attract ISA customers. These include a tax-savings calculator that shows in numerical terms the tax benefits of using an ISA compared with a regular account, and a "Top Investor Pick" feature that draws on actual customer investment data to suggest portfolio holdings favored by high-performing investors. The firm also operates a share accumulation service that lets customers make regular investments in stocks or ETFs through their ISA accounts.
