Samsung Electronics unveils four 2027 Odyssey gaming monitors at Gamescom 2026

Samsung Electronics unveiled four 2027 Odyssey gaming monitors featuring world-first technologies at Gamescom 2026, the world's largest gaming event, which opened in Cologne, Germany. The company said the new lineup is part of its strategy to maintain leadership in the gaming monitor market.

The unveiling took place Thursday morning (local time) at the Samsung Electronics booth. The four models on display were the 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9, the 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8, the 42-inch curved Odyssey OLED G7 and the 27-inch Odyssey G6.

The Odyssey OLED G9 is the world's first 49-inch curved gaming monitor to support a 360Hz refresh rate. It uses a fifth-generation QD-OLED Penta Tandem panel in a 32:9 aspect ratio, and Samsung says its fast response time and high brightness deliver a deeply immersive experience.

The Odyssey OLED G8 supports a "Triple Mode" feature that lets users switch among three resolution and refresh rate combinations on a single monitor to suit different game genres. It offers 4K resolution and a 360Hz refresh rate by default, with the option to switch to a high-refresh-rate mode.

The monitor is equipped with DisplayPort 2.1, which supports up to 80 Gbps of bandwidth, enabling stable, lossless transmission of high-resolution, ultra-high-refresh-rate video.

The Odyssey OLED G7 is the world's first 42-inch OLED gaming monitor, offering roughly 72 percent more display area than its predecessor, the 32-inch model. The Odyssey G6 is a 27-inch monitor supporting QHD resolution and a 600Hz refresh rate.

All four new models are set to support Nvidia G-Sync Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, ensuring smooth gameplay free of screen tearing or stuttering even during fast-paced action.

In addition, the glasses-free 3D monitor Odyssey 3D will gain 3D mode support for "Cyberpunk 2077" and "Cronos: The New Dawn" later this year. Samsung Electronics plans to expand the number of compatible titles to more than 120 by year-end through continued strengthening of its game software partnerships.

According to market research firm IDC, Samsung Electronics held a 17.8 percent share by revenue in the global gaming monitor market — defined as monitors with refresh rates of 144Hz or higher — in the first half of this year, putting it on track for an eighth consecutive year at the top.

"At Gamescom, the world's largest gaming festival, we unveiled a sweeping range of next-generation display technologies — from the world's first 360Hz 49-inch OLED to gaming monitors reaching up to 1,100Hz," said Lee Heon, executive vice president of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business. "We will continue to bring innovative products that lead the gaming display market."
