Partners to explore stablecoin payments and global remittances
Collaboration to extend to AI-based future payments, including agentic commerce
Dunamu, the operator of digital asset exchange Upbit, and global payments technology company Visa have joined forces on stablecoins, combining their technology and payment networks to lead the next-generation financial and payments market.
Dunamu announced Friday that it unveiled a partnership and roadmap with Visa on Wednesday (local time) at Visa's Global Market Support Center in San Francisco, targeting innovation in stablecoin and AI-driven next-generation financial and payments markets.
The event was attended by Dunamu CEO Oh Kyung-seok, Visa Global President Oliver Jenkyn and other key officials.
The partnership aims to enable the safe and reliable use of digital assets and next-generation payment technology, grounded in stability, transparency, interoperability and regulatory compliance. Collaborative projects — including stablecoin-based payments and global remittances — will be developed in phases, taking into account relevant laws and regulatory requirements.
As a first step, the two companies will draw on Dunamu's digital asset technology and Visa's global payment network to identify new financial services, including stablecoin-based payments and cross-border remittances. They also plan to extend their cooperation into AI-integrated future financial and payments services.
The partnership also aims to connect stablecoins with global financial and payments infrastructure, broadening the practical use cases for digital assets. The companies will explore stablecoin and digital asset-linked payment services in major global markets, and are considering ways to deliver new user experiences across areas such as global remittances, payments and settlement.
In addition, the two companies will expand their collaboration into AI-powered future payments. To that end, they plan to jointly develop new services and business models combining AI with stablecoin-based payment and settlement infrastructure.
Among the areas under discussion is "agentic commerce" — in which AI searches for, purchases and processes payments for products and services on behalf of users — along with the technologies, infrastructure and ecosystem development needed to support AI-driven payments.
"The spread of AI, stablecoins and tokenization is a defining shift that will transform how finance and commerce operate," Oh said. "Through our collaboration with Visa, a leader in global payments, we will bridge digital assets and traditional finance to create new global financial experiences that users can truly feel."
