All 10 South Koreans stranded at a hydropower plant construction site in Nepal have been evacuated to safety following severe flooding.
South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Friday that one Korean national who had remained at a temporary shelter, along with one embassy staff member, were airlifted to a safe area by a Nepalese military helicopter Friday afternoon.
The evacuated national was the site manager for Doosan Enerbility.
The 10 Doosan Enerbility workers had been stranded since Wednesday after floodwaters washed out surrounding roads. Nine of them were airlifted by Nepalese military helicopter on Thursday, but the site manager chose to stay behind until all local employees had been rescued.
In response, the South Korean Embassy in Nepal kept a staff member at the scene to confirm the site manager's safe evacuation.
Meanwhile, the whereabouts of nine other South Korean nationals who lost contact after the flooding have yet to be confirmed.
