Milestone reached 1 year and 8 months after launch, with membership doubling in 7 months
Service expanded to cover shopping rewards and fractional share investment
Kiwoom Securities announced Monday that its flagship app-based loyalty service, Kiwoom Points, surpassed 1 million members as of Aug. 21 — about one year and eight months after the service launched in late 2024. Membership crossed the 500,000 mark in January and has since doubled in roughly seven months.
Kiwoom Points lets users of the mobile trading system (MTS) Yeongungmun S# earn points by completing missions and participating in events. Points can be accumulated without opening a brokerage account, and account holders can spend them like cash — including on financial products such as domestic fractional shares and funds. In the app's Simple Mode, users can enter points directly on the stock order screen to purchase shares.
There are multiple ways to earn points. Shopping through Coupang Inc or Naver Plus Store via Yeongungmun S# returns a set percentage of the purchase amount as points. At Naver Plus Store, buying from recommended brands earns up to 14 percent in combined rewards — 4 percent in Kiwoom Points and 10 percent in Naver Points.
Points also accumulate through investment information content, such as reading research notes presented as webtoons or checking top shareholders' stock rankings. Users can complete step-by-step missions — registering stocks of interest, depositing funds and linking assets through the My Asset service — to naturally familiarize themselves with the platform's investment features.
Kiwoom Securities redesigned the Yeongungmun S# home screen to make it easier for customers to find missions and rewards. The company also diversified its offerings by combining shopping rewards with hands-on investment missions. Kiwoom Securities attributed the 1 million membership milestone to these usability improvements.
"Through Kiwoom Points, customers can now seamlessly connect their everyday spending with investing," a Kiwoom Securities official said. "We will continue to expand the benefits and content that customers can tangibly experience, including fractional share investment and shopping rewards."
Kiwoom Securities has been broadening its user touchpoints through Yeongungmun S#. On Aug. 12, the app's Simple Mode surpassed 1.7 million cumulative users. Launched last October, Simple Mode offers an AI market research note, AI stock research notes, AI-summarized domestic and US research, and Kiwoom Shorts.
