Lee vows 'prevention-focused auditing' to identify risks before problems arise, pledging to strengthen integrity and internal controls to build public trust
Seoul Metro said former Seoul Metropolitan Government spokesperson Lee Chang-geun has been appointed as its new standing auditor, effective Monday.
Lee's term runs from Aug. 31, 2026, to Aug. 30, 2029.
Standing auditors at Seoul city-affiliated investment and endowment institutions are appointed by the Seoul mayor from among multiple candidates recommended following document screening and interviews by a candidate recommendation committee.
Lee holds a doctorate in economics from Seoul National University's graduate school. He previously served as an administrator in the Presidential Secretariat and as a research associate professor at Seoul National University's Research Institute of Advanced Materials before becoming Seoul Metropolitan Government spokesperson in 2021.
"Rather than simply pointing out mistakes after problems occur, I will focus on prevention-oriented auditing — identifying risk factors in advance and improving unreasonable systems and practices," Lee said. "I will faithfully carry out my role to support an organizational culture of proactive work, while strengthening internal controls over integrity and misconduct, so that Seoul Metro can become an institution that citizens trust even more."
