500 million won in Gwangjin Ddaenggyeoyo vouchers go on sale Tuesday at 15% off; 10 billion won in Gwangjin Love vouchers follow Sept. 16 at 5% off
Gwangjin-gu will issue a combined 10.5 billion won ($7.63 million) in gift vouchers ahead of the Chuseok holiday to ease residents' shopping costs and boost the local economy. The rollout includes 500 million won in "Gwangjin Ddaenggyeoyo" vouchers and 10 billion won in "Gwangjin Love" vouchers.
The Gwangjin Ddaenggyeoyo vouchers go on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m. at a 15 percent discount. Purchases are capped at 200,000 won per person per month, with a maximum holding limit of 1 million won. The vouchers are valid for one year from the date of purchase.
The vouchers can be used at Gwangjin-gu merchants registered on the public online food delivery app Ddaenggyeoyo, letting consumers order discounted delivery meals while helping small business owners cut costs through lower platform commission fees.
A cashback promotion will also run alongside the sale: customers who pay with a local district love voucher or a Ddaenggyeoyo voucher through the app will receive 5 percent of their payment back as a Ddaenggyeoyo voucher. The promotion runs until the budget is exhausted, and cashback vouchers will be issued Sept. 20 for purchases made that month.
The 10 billion won Gwangjin Love voucher sale follows Sept. 16 at 10 a.m., also timed for the Chuseok season. These vouchers are sold at a 5 percent discount, with a monthly purchase cap of 500,000 won and a holding limit of 1.5 million won per person. They are valid for five years from the date of purchase.
Gwangjin Love vouchers are accepted at all Seoul Love voucher-affiliated merchants in Gwangjin-gu, making them usable not only for holiday grocery shopping but also for dining out and everyday purchases such as household goods.
The district expects the voucher issuance and cashback promotion to lower residents' holiday spending burden while stimulating local consumption and boosting sales for small business owners.
Both vouchers can be purchased through the Seoul Pay+ mobile app. Full details on the issuance schedule and participating merchants are available on the Gwangjin-gu District Office website.
"I hope this voucher issuance helps ease the financial burden on residents ahead of Chuseok and injects vitality into the local economy," Gwangjin-gu District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said.
