Jungnang-gu has received the top rating in the Ministry of Interior and Safety's 2026 Public Safety Education Performance Evaluation, earning recognition as an outstanding institution for the fourth consecutive year.
The Ministry of Interior and Safety conducts the evaluation annually under the Framework Act on the Promotion of Public Safety Education. It assesses safety education policy performance across 268 institutions — including central government ministries and local governments — and aims to identify and share best practices. Each institution submits a self-assessment, which is then reviewed by the Central Safety Education Inspection Team, composed of private-sector experts.
Jungnang-gu has achieved the top rating for four consecutive years, from 2023 through this year, in recognition of its sustained performance in safety education.
The district has expanded hands-on safety education through facilities such as an environmental education center and a bicycle safety experience zone, and has worked to strengthen emergency response capabilities by promoting CPR and other first-aid training. It has also reinforced tailored safety education programs for vulnerable groups, taking into account the specific needs of different target populations.
Those efforts were recognized as a best-practice case, earning the district the top rating again this year.
Jungnang-gu has also maintained strong results across the broader safety sector. It received the top rating in the everyday safety category of the Regional Safety Index and achieved the top rating for six consecutive years in the natural disaster safety diagnostic evaluation. In the 2026 Disaster Management Evaluation conducted in June, the district was also named an outstanding institution for the second consecutive year, earning recognition across a wide range of areas from disaster response to day-to-day safety management.
District Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi said it was meaningful to have four consecutive years of recognition for the district's systematic safety education efforts, which have kept residents' safety as the top priority. "We will continue to strengthen our education and response systems so that residents can feel safe in their everyday lives," he said.
