452 personnel from 7 departments deployed Friday–Saturday; administrative support headquarters to operate at full capacity. Yeongdeungpo-gu is rolling out a comprehensive safety plan to protect residents and visitors during the 2026 Seoul International Fireworks Festival, set to take place along the Han River park in Yeouido.
The district has established an administrative support headquarters led by the deputy district mayor, deploying a cumulative total of 452 personnel to handle traffic control, public transit support, crowd management, on-site cleanup and emergency medical services.
The festival runs Friday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. With a pre-festival eve event included, the district said it will devote maximum effort to crowd and safety management across both days.
To protect visitors and ease road congestion, traffic controls will be phased in across the event area. The Yeouido Han River park parking lot in front of the 63 Building will be fully closed from 6 p.m. Friday through midnight Saturday. Wonhyo Bridge will see pedestrian and one-lane restrictions from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, followed by a full closure from 9 a.m. Saturday through 3 a.m. Sunday.
Yeouido-dongno — the main viewing corridor running from the southern end of Mapo Bridge to the 63 Building — will be closed to all vehicles from 3 p.m. to midnight Saturday. The stretch from Parc1 Tower to the Yeouido-dong community center will be restricted to residents and event vehicles only during the same hours.
Pedestrian safety measures and visitor advisories will be communicated in advance. Dedicated personnel will be stationed at key crowd points — Seonyudo Park (Seonyu Bridge), Dangsan Station (Dangsan riverside entrance), Singil Station (Saetgang Culture Bridge) and the Yeouido Yukgammun area — to maintain order.
Public transit will be expanded to ease travel for residents. On the day of the main event, subway Line 5 will run 18 additional trips from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Line 9 will add 65 trips from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., for a combined 83 extra services. However, Yeouinaru Station — expected to see the heaviest crowding — may skip stops or temporarily restrict exits depending on conditions. For buses, 26 routes passing through Yeouido will increase frequency during peak departure windows (7–8 p.m. and 10–11 p.m.) and will be rerouted when Yeouido-dongno is closed.
For public convenience, the Yeouido-dong community center restrooms will remain open throughout the festival, and a medical team with one ambulance will be stationed on-site to respond to emergencies. After the festival ends, 29 cleaning vehicles and 128 workers will be deployed to carry out overnight street cleaning and waste collection, focusing on 17 designated temporary disposal sites.
Yeongdeungpo-gu District Mayor Jo Yu-jin urged residents to check traffic control schedules, public transit information and safety guidelines in advance. "I hope everyone can enjoy the festival safely and comfortably," she said. "We will do our utmost to manage on-site safety and minimize inconvenience to residents."
