Actor Shin Min-a's 15 years of secret giving total W4b

A record of actor Shin Min-a's 15 years of charitable giving is circulating again online.

A post titled "3.7 billion won ($2.69 million) quietly leaving Shin Min-a's account over 15 years" spread across online communities and social media Tuesday. The post is believed to have first appeared several months ago.

Written by someone claiming to work at a foundation, the post said: "At first I thought the money had been deposited by mistake. Large sums had been coming in every month since 2009, and it turned out to be Shin Min-a."

The writer said Shin had asked them to "never tell anyone" and requested the money be used for burn patients' treatment costs and study rooms for children from low-income families.

"Over 15 years, the amount she donated in secret exceeded 3.7 billion won. She really is an angel," the writer added. The author's exact affiliation and the source of the post could not be verified.

Shin's long record of giving has come to light on several occasions. She has supported vulnerable groups since 2009, and last year it became widely known that her cumulative donations over 15 years had reached 4 billion won.

When Shin married actor Kim Woo-bin in December last year, she also donated 300 million won to the Hallym Burn Foundation, Asan Medical Center and Good Friends, among other organizations.

In a past interview, Shin said she used to believe good deeds should be done quietly. "I used to think that when you give, you should do it in secret," she said. "But I heard that when someone with influence donates, many others join in."

She added: "When a story about a donation comes out, I hope it makes even just one person think about giving."

Shin stars as Empress Navier of the Dongdae Empire in "The Remarried Empress," a Disney+ original series set to premiere Nov. 4.
