Pocheon holds final review of campaign pledges for ninth elected-term administration

Pocheon held a final review session Monday on its campaign pledge implementation plans for the ninth elected-term administration.

The session brought together Mayor Baek Young-hyun and all department heads to examine each department's operational review findings and key pending issues, confirming whether the pledged projects are feasible in practice.

The city refined its election pledges through internal departmental reviews in June, then submitted them to an external advisory panel of field experts for further review and adjustment, ultimately finalizing 148 pledge projects. The panel re-evaluated the feasibility and funding plans for each project from an outside expert perspective.

Building on the ninth elected-term city motto "Pride Pocheon — a humanities city where my life is happier," the city has established four strategic priorities: a citizen-happiness healthy city, a high-quality humanities city, a balanced-development economic city, and a livable garden city. Five flagship pledges will be pursued as the centerpiece of those strategies.

The five flagship pledges are: creating a lifestyle-integrated urban garden city, establishing a K-AI advanced defense industry innovation cluster, securing designation as an education innovation leading region and a peace economy special zone, building a smart farming and livestock infrastructure, and expanding the regional road network and transportation infrastructure.

The city plans to monitor pledge implementation consistently through quarterly progress reviews and will operate a pledge evaluation committee composed of experts and residents to build a system that delivers results citizens can feel in their daily lives.

Mayor Baek used the session to review funding sources in preparation for a possible reduction in Gyeonggi Province support amid the province's fiscal difficulties, and called on officials to carry out pledges in ways residents can feel in their everyday lives. He also urged the city to pursue projects with momentum in the second half of the year to build public trust in the administration.

Im Geun-tae, head of the planning and budget division, said the final review had completed the overall framework for the ninth elected-term pledge projects. "We will now focus on managing implementation with real follow-through," he said, "and push ahead with the pledge projects without disruption so that residents can feel the change in their daily lives."
