Mamamoo's Solar struck by chair thrown by stranger in Los Angeles

Solar, a member of K-pop group Mamamoo, said she was struck by a wooden chair thrown by an unknown man while in Los Angeles.

On Monday, Solar recounted the incident during an Instagram Live broadcast, describing what had happened to her in LA a few days earlier. At the time, she was walking with fellow member Moonbyul, a hairstylist and two male managers — five people in total.

"There was a man on the other side of the street, and he suddenly came toward us," Solar said. "I thought, 'Huh?' and then I saw he was carrying a chair on his shoulder."

"All of a sudden he started swearing in English and threw the chair at me," she said.

"He threw the chair toward the ground near me, and I got hit," Solar said. "It's the first time in my life something like this has ever happened to me." The wooden chair shattered on impact.

The two male managers walking behind her immediately stepped in and restrained the man, who then left. Solar said she had no prior connection to him whatsoever.

"I was so shocked. I was so shocked I couldn't even scream," she said of the moment.

"I got a bruise on my leg, but it's gone now," she added. "I was so flustered at the time that I didn't even realize I was in pain."

Mamamoo is currently on a world tour.
