Pohang City and North Gyeongsang Province held a roundtable Tuesday for domestic and international business figures in conjunction with the "Post-APEC North Gyeongsang Province Investment Forum" at Pohang City Hall.
About 30 participants attended, including Pohang Deputy Mayor Bae Yong-su, North Gyeongsang Province Airport Investment Headquarters Director Lee Nam-eok, heads of relevant city and provincial departments, and domestic and international business representatives.
Attendees watched a promotional video on investment opportunities in Pohang, then discussed the city's key and advanced industries — including steel, secondary batteries, hydrogen and AI — before taking part in a question-and-answer session.
Following the roundtable, participants visited Posco Future M inside the Yeongilman Industrial Complex, touring the secondary battery cathode materials production floor and getting a firsthand look at Pohang's industrial infrastructure and investment environment.
Pohang is pursuing industrial diversification beyond its steel base, expanding into advanced sectors such as secondary batteries, biotech, AI and new materials. The city has been working to attract national strategic industries through the designation of specialized complexes and the expansion of research infrastructure.
"This roundtable gave domestic and foreign investors and companies a chance to see Pohang's industrial competitiveness firsthand," Deputy Mayor Bae said. "We will continue to broaden our investment network through various channels and work to translate that into tangible investment that revitalizes the local economy."
