Streamer Gwajukseyeon denies drug use, proxy prescription after being booked with boyfriend

BJ Gwajukseyeon (real name In Se-yeon, 26) addressed her followers in a live broadcast after she and her boyfriend, BJ Kay (real name Park Jung-gyu, 37), were both booked on charges of taking a controlled substance.

Speaking on Soop on Tuesday, Gwajukseyeon said she had taken her boyfriend's medication after a dispute between them and that police became involved when she sought emergency care afterward. "It was not a case of me getting a proxy prescription for Kay," she said.

She also pushed back against speculation that a recent hair bleaching was connected to the police investigation. "My hair was black when I was questioned by police, and I had cut 100 strands for testing," she said. "The bleaching came after all of that — it has nothing to do with the case."

She also displayed a message on her broadcast screen reading: "I did not use drugs. I did not obtain a proxy prescription. I was investigated before the bleaching. I am sorry for causing concern."

It emerged Tuesday that Gwajukseyeon, Kay and a third person had been booked by the Gangnam Police Station on July 30 on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act and are under investigation. Gwajukseyeon is suspected of taking zolpidem — classified as a psychotropic substance — together with Kay in mid-June.

Kay had also gone live after news of the booking broke, acknowledging that reports about a proxy prescription for sleeping pills referred to him. "I am now receiving prescriptions through proper channels," he said. "I cooperated fully with the investigation and am waiting for the outcome."

Gwajukseyeon is active as a YouTuber and internet broadcast streamer. She has appeared on the web variety show "Nobbacku Tak Jae-hoon" and the Netflix original series "The Influencer." She announced her relationship with Kay in April.
