High-end luxury brand Aman partners with Shinsegae Property for Cheongdam-dong debut; project to feature hotel, 49 residences and Korea's first Aman Club membership community
Aman, the globally renowned hospitality brand, has chosen Seoul as its next urban destination, partnering with Shinsegae Property on a project expected to reshape the city's luxury lifestyle landscape.
The luxury hospitality and lifestyle brand announced Wednesday the opening of Aman Seoul, its first property in Korea. The hotel will be located in Cheongdam-dong and will offer views of the Han River from the heart of Gangnam.
Aman caters to the world's wealthiest individuals and celebrities and is consistently ranked among the most expensive hotel brands per night. It currently operates 36 hotels and resorts across 21 destinations worldwide.
Aman Seoul will rise on a site at 52-3 and 52-7 Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, with eight below-ground floors and 38 above-ground floors and a total floor area of approximately 70,000 square meters. The expected opening is 2029, though that timeline is subject to change. The complex will house a hotel, 49 residential units, retail and cultural spaces, and Aman Club, a members-only community.
Shinsegae Property, as the project developer, will oversee planning, strategy and overall development. Aman, as a partner, will directly manage the hotel, residences and Aman Club under a long-term management agreement.
Aman's entry into Korea reflects the country's rising global stature. As Korean influence has grown across fashion, beauty, design, technology and contemporary culture, Seoul has established itself as one of Asia's premier markets. Aman Seoul will draw on Cheongdam-dong's concentration of luxury boutiques and cultural venues to set a new standard for urban hospitality and residential living in the city.
The architecture and interiors will be developed in collaboration with Korean artisans and specialist partners, reinterpreting traditional Korean aesthetics, spatial composition and materials in a contemporary idiom. The complex will include a multi-level private spa and wellness facility, along with a food and beverage program featuring Aman's signature dining concepts.
The announcement follows a recently concluded strategic partnership between Shinsegae Group and OKO Group, a US real estate developer founded and led by Vladislav Doronin.
Aman Group Chairman Vladislav Doronin said Aman Seoul represents the brand's conviction in Seoul's future and its commitment to establishing a permanent urban home for the Aman lifestyle. "By bringing together a hotel, residences and Aman Club in the heart of Gangnam, we will create a sanctuary where guests can connect with the energy of the city while enjoying privacy and exceptional service," he said.
Shinsegae Property said it plans to combine its understanding of the Korean market with Aman's expertise in hospitality and branded residences to set a new benchmark for luxury living through Aman Seoul.
Shinsegae Group Chairman Chung Yong-jin said Aman Seoul goes beyond a simple hotel development. "This project will set a new standard for luxury lifestyle in Seoul," Chung said. "Building on Shinsegae Group's distinctive destination development capabilities, we will continue to create innovative spaces that add new value and inspiration to the way people live."
