Hanwha Forena's 'Cozy Curve Elevator' wins 2026 Good Design Award

The "Forena Cozy Curve Elevator," co-developed by Hanwha's construction division and Hyundai Elevator, has been selected for the 2026 Good Design (GD) Award.

Hanwha's construction division announced Wednesday that the newly developed elevator had received the recognition. The Good Design Award is hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion. The company plans to roll out the design across future Hanwha Forena pre-sale complexes on a sequential basis.

The Forena Cozy Curve Elevator features curved design elements, indirect lighting, and wood and metal finishes inside the elevator cab — a shared space in apartment complexes. The design focuses on evoking the atmosphere of a hotel lounge.

Curved elements run along the walls and ceiling, with indirect lighting used to shape the interior ambiance. Restrained-tone wood and metal materials are used throughout.

On the functional side, a lightweight design improves operational efficiency. Materials were also selected to minimize damage from friction and impact during moves or freight transport.

"The elevator is one of the most frequently used shared spaces in residents' daily lives," said Kim Min-seok, head of the architectural project division at Hanwha's construction division. "We will continue to develop differentiated products that customers can directly experience, strengthening the brand value unique to Hanwha Forena."

Hanwha's construction division has unveiled a series of design concepts this year, including "Grand Flow" for complex entrance landscaping, "Forena Vista" for exterior design, "Forena Journey" for integrated gate and entrance design, and "Next Flow" for play space design.
