GS Retail successfully concluded a used electronics collection event Wednesday morning at GS Tower in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
The event was held as part of the "Our Neighborhood Resource Circulation Campaign," organized ahead of Resource Circulation Day on Sunday in partnership with E-Circulation Governance, a recycling agency under the Ministry of Climate, Environment and Energy.
GS Retail CEO Heo Seo-hong, GS25 store owners, and employees from GS Retail and its affiliates brought in their own discarded electronics to take part in the collection drive. Participants received Seoul Milk desserts and coffee from GS25.
More than 700 people took part in the event, with over 1,000 used electronic items collected. The items will be processed for resource recycling through E-Circulation Governance.
GS Retail plans to expand resource circulation activities for both employees and customers, drawing on its network of more than 18,600 stores nationwide under GS25 and GS The Fresh.
Park Gyeong-rang, head of GS Retail's ESG division, said the event was "a meaningful occasion for employees to put the value of resource circulation into practice in their daily lives," adding that the company would "continue to expand a wide range of resource circulation activities going forward."
