Anyang draws global interest in smart city operations as Cambodia sends delegation to benchmark

Anyang Mayor Choi Dae-ho said he hopes the city's advanced urban management technology and smart administration capabilities will offer practical solutions to challenges faced by cities around the world.

A delegation from Cambodia's Ministry of Interior, led by Secretary of State Touch Visalsok, visited Anyang's Smart City Integrated Center on Tuesday, the city announced Wednesday.

The visit came at the request of the Cambodian government, which sought to benchmark Anyang's best practices in smart city operations.

The delegation received briefings on center operations and toured its key facilities, gaining a firsthand look at the city's smart city policies and the results of its initiatives.

Particularly notable was a demonstration of a digital twin-based urban management system developed in partnership with local firm Naviworks Co., which drew strong interest from the visiting delegation.

Digital twin technology replicates a real city in a three-dimensional virtual environment. Anyang uses the system to proactively address disaster preparedness, public safety and traffic management — including predicting flood-prone areas ahead of heavy rainfall and analyzing the causes of rush-hour congestion.
