Daegu University held an inauguration ceremony for its 14th president, Yoon Jae-woong, at Seongsan Hall on its Gyeongsan campus Wednesday afternoon, officially unveiling the university's mid- to long-term vision: "PRIDE DU — Leading the Future through Student Success."

About 300 people attended the ceremony, including the chairman of the Yeonggwang School Foundation, faculty, staff, students, alumni and representatives from local organizations.

Yoon presented five institutional values — a people-centered university, a reliable and trustworthy university, an innovative-systems university, a dynamic-growth university and an external-partnership university — along with six core reform initiatives to drive institutional transformation.

Building on the vision announcement, Daegu University plans to carry out a sweeping overhaul through a three-phase roadmap: Phase 1, foundation building (2026–2027); Phase 2, accelerating innovation (2027–2028); and Phase 3, future expansion and sustainability (from 2029 onward).

In his inaugural address, Yoon stressed the paramount importance of student success. "A university does not become great and then produce successful students — it becomes great because its students succeed," he said.

He added that the university would make student success "the starting point and the destination of all academic and administrative work" as it lays the groundwork for Daegu University's centennial, beginning with the approaching 70th anniversary of its founding.
