A special commemorative concert featuring Baroque Concerto Seoul will take the stage at Seocho Culture and Arts Center on Friday, treating audiences to works by Bach, Vivaldi and Telemann.
Seocho-gu will host a special commemorative concert, "A Midsummer Night's Baroque Festa," at 7 p.m. Friday at the Art Hall of Seocho Culture and Arts Center, marking the 1,300th performance of the Seocho Friday Concert series.
The Seocho Friday Concert has been a flagship cultural program of the district since its debut in March 1994 as the "Spring Concert," bringing live music to residents every Friday evening for more than 30 years. The series continues to draw strong public interest — this year's open call for performing groups drew a competition ratio of 32 to 1.
The concert was organized to express gratitude to the audiences who have supported the series over the years as it reaches this milestone 1,300th performance.
Baroque Concerto Seoul, one of South Korea's leading early-music ensembles specializing in Baroque performance, will take the stage for an approximately 80-minute program featuring concertos and vocal arias by Bach, Vivaldi and Telemann.
The district will also hold three online appreciation events from September through November to mark the 1,300th concert. The first, running through Sept. 13, is a social media follow event offering prizes and complimentary Saturday tickets to the Seoripul Music Festival. The second, from Sept. 21 through Oct. 12, will feature a social media quiz centered on the Seocho Friday Concert. The third, from Nov. 1 through Nov. 30, invites audiences to submit personal memories of the concert series, with winners receiving prizes and invitations to the year-end special "Christmas in Seocho" on Dec. 19.
