Starting at 4 p.m. on Sept. 15, 6 billion won worth of vouchers go on sale at a 5% discount — up to 500,000 won per person per month, accepted at 13,930 affiliated merchants across the district
Dongjak-gu will issue "Dongjak Love Gift Vouchers" ahead of the Chuseok holiday to ease residents' shopping costs and boost local spending, the district announced.
Starting at 4 p.m. on Sept. 15, the district will release 6 billion won ($4.38 million) worth of Dongjak Love Gift Vouchers at a 5% discount.
Purchases are capped at 500,000 won per person per month, with a maximum holding limit of 1.5 million won, and vouchers can be bought through the Seoul Pay+ app. The monthly gift-receiving limit is 1.5 million won, and only vouchers purchased via bank account, debit card or Naver Pay Money are eligible to be gifted.
Customers who cancel without fully using their vouchers, or who have used 60 percent or more of the purchase amount per transaction, may receive a refund excluding the discount subsidy. Vouchers purchased by credit card are not eligible for partial refunds.
Dongjak Love Gift Vouchers are accepted at 13,930 Seoul Love Gift Voucher-affiliated merchants in Dongjak-gu and are valid for five years from the date of purchase.
Purchase inquiries can be directed to the Seoul Pay+ customer center, while questions about the issuance itself should be addressed to the Economic Policy Division of Dongjak-gu.
The district has been rolling out targeted support throughout the year to energize the local economy — issuing 8 billion won in Dongjak Love Gift Vouchers and 50 million won in Dongjak Ddaenggyeoyo Gift Vouchers for the Lunar New Year earlier this year, and an additional 50 million won in Dongjak Ddaenggyeoyo Gift Vouchers during the summer vacation season in July.
"We prepared the Dongjak Love Gift Vouchers to give residents a chance to shop smartly as they get ready for the holiday, and to give local merchants a welcome boost in sales," Dongjak-gu District Mayor Ryu Sam-young said. "We will consistently develop effective support measures so that everyday spending by residents translates into vitality for the local economy."
