hy Fresh Managers appointed as honorary social welfare civil servants in Eunpyeong-gu

hy announced Thursday that it is partnering with Eunpyeong-gu to use its Fresh Manager network for community welfare cooperation.

The agreement was signed to help build a social safety net for identifying vulnerable residents. It is part of an MOU on preventing social isolation that hy concluded with the Ministry of Health and Welfare in June.

Fifty-six hy members will check on neighbors in need and participate in welfare activities. At a signing ceremony held Wednesday at the Eunpyeong-gu district office in Seoul, Fresh Managers Lee Eun-jeong and Kim Ju-kyung received their appointment certificates as representatives. hy plans to expand its community-based activities in partnership with other local governments, starting with Eunpyeong-gu.

Honorary social welfare civil servants identify households in crisis within their communities and connect them with welfare services. The 50 members active in Eunpyeong-gu will check on neighbors who may need help during their regular delivery rounds.

The community social security council is a public-private cooperative body in which dong office heads, welfare civil servants and residents discuss local welfare issues and carry out welfare projects and volunteer activities. Six hy representatives on the council plan to draw on their field experience to monitor local issues and take part in welfare activities closely tied to residents.

Kim Geun-hyeon, head of hy's customer-focused team, said the company would "work to extend our cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Welfare into the field and make a tangible contribution to preventing social isolation and closing gaps in welfare coverage."
