Singer Yoon Ddan-ddan (real name Yoon Jong-hun), who previously admitted to assaulting his ex-wife and having an affair, has released a new album and resumed his career — nine months after acknowledging the misconduct and roughly 15 months after the controversy first broke.
On Wednesday, Yoon announced the new release on Instagram with the message: "I am someone who, when shaken, has dust fall out."
"I don't know how this album — made from my regret, reflection and sighs — will reach you," Yoon wrote, adding that he intended to "live going forward by keeping the dust well in order."
Yoon married singer-songwriter Eun Jong in 2019 after a five-year relationship.
Their divorce became public last June when Eun posted on social media that she had won a lawsuit against her husband's affair partner after a year-long legal dispute.
At the time, Eun also said she had been physically assaulted during the marriage, in addition to the infidelity.
In December, Yoon acknowledged on social media that he had been unfaithful and had acted violently, writing that it was "the price of how I have lived, and a wrongdoing of that magnitude."
"The past cannot be changed, and if I want a better future, I believe it depends on not repeating the same mistakes and on how I live from here," he said at the time. "My sorrow over the fans who left has grown into an ever-deepening sense of guilt over the shock and disappointment they must have felt."
He added, "The time that has passed cannot be turned back, but I shamelessly hope that a day will come when I can be loved again."
