Actor Byun Yo-han opens up about falling for Tiffany: 'She's the first person who protected me'

Actor Byun Yo-han has for the first time revealed why he fell for Tiffany Young, a member of the K-pop group Girls' Generation.

A video titled "Viewer discretion advised: Yano Shiho and Tiffany" was posted Thursday on the YouTube channel "Choo Sung-hoon."

Byun appeared as a guest on the video ahead of the opening of his film "Tajja: The Song of Beelzebub."

When host Choo Sung-hoon asked how long he had been married, Byun said, "We got married in February, so it's been six months," adding that they had dated for about a year and a half before tying the knot.

Asked what prompted him to decide on marriage, Byun said he was sharing the reason for the first time. "I had always dated with the mindset of protecting the other person," he said. "But she was the first woman I met who protected me — someone who gave me courage and helped me overcome things."

Byun also opened up about a long struggle with flying. "I hadn't been able to travel for about 10 years because of my health. I was scared of getting on a plane, so I was gradually working my way up, starting with nearby destinations," he said. "I had slowly built up to Southeast Asia, which takes about five hours, but I never thought I could go beyond that."

It was Tiffany who reached out to him first. Byun recalled that she personally booked the plane tickets and told him, "Trust yourself. Come with me." She also arranged the best seat on the plane out of consideration for his fear of flying. The two were in a secret relationship at the time.

After landing, Byun said he found himself thinking, "What is this feeling?" He added, "I've been acting for a long time and I'm not exactly young, but I felt something completely new."

Byun also expressed satisfaction with married life. When Choo asked how things were going, Byun said, "It's wonderful," drawing laughter as he added, "I'm trying to stay calm and composed. I want to love her for a long time. I'm trying to pace myself."

Meanwhile, Byun Yo-han and Tiffany Young first crossed paths when they appeared together in "Uncle Samsik," a Disney+ series released in 2024.
