Im Young-woong wins best male entertainer at Korea Broadcasting Awards

Singer Im Young-woong won the best male entertainer award at the Korea Broadcasting Awards for his appearance on the SBS variety program "Seomchonggak Yeong-ung" last year.

The 53rd Korea Broadcasting Awards ceremony was held Thursday at MBC's public hall on Broadcaster's Day, according to the Korea Broadcasters Association.

Im was selected as best male entertainer in the individual category for "Seomchonggak Yeong-ung," beating out a competitive field that included prominent entertainers Sung Si-kyung, Lee Seo-jin, Seo Jang-hoon and Yoo Jae-suk.

In an acceptance speech delivered via video, Im said the award felt more than he deserved, adding, "I dedicate this honor to the staff who captured such wonderful moments and stories, and to the island villagers who welcomed me with such warmth."

Meanwhile, the ceremony announced one grand prize winner, 30 program award winners and 20 individual award winners.

This year marked the first time in the award's 53-year history that online viewer votes determined 100 percent of the results in five categories: best male and female actor, best male and female entertainer, and best singer.

The grand prize went to "Balsinja-reul Chatseumnida," a documentary produced by KBS Gwangju marking the 46th anniversary of the May 18 pro-democracy uprising.

Im will hold his 2026 concert "IM HERO — THE STADIUM 2" at the main arena of Goyang General Sports Complex from Friday through Sunday.
