A resident was spotted carrying a mat to claim a prime viewing spot at Yeouido Hangang Park in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, on Friday, one day before the 2026 Seoul International Fireworks Festival. To curb the unauthorized occupation of public space by unattended mats and other items, the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Future Han River Headquarters began confiscating mats left without anyone present from 9:30 a.m. that day. Collected items are being stored at the Yeouido Information Center.
