Aekyung Industrial donates 1,431 boxes of household goods worth 160 million won to 39 social welfare facilities and vulnerable residents
Guro-gu held a household goods donation ceremony Friday at the Guro-gu Office plaza to support social welfare facilities and vulnerable residents in the district.
The Guro-gu Social Welfare Council organized and hosted the event to promote community sharing and support the daily lives of those in need, with Aekyung Industrial serving as the corporate sponsor.
Aekyung Industrial donated 1,431 boxes of household goods valued at around 160 million won ($118,000). The donated items comprised eight product categories, including fabric softener, shampoo, conditioner, oral care products, goat milk soap sets and fabric mist.
The goods will be distributed to 39 social welfare facilities in the district, including community child centers, general social welfare centers, disability welfare centers and local self-sufficiency centers. Items earmarked for vulnerable residents will be delivered through food bank market centers and general social welfare centers.
About 50 people attended the handover ceremony, including Guro-gu District Mayor Jang In-hong, Guro-gu Social Welfare Council Chairman Kim Han-gi and council executives, representatives from the sponsoring company, and staff from social welfare facilities. Attendees presented the donated goods and took a commemorative photo to mark the occasion.
"I hope these donated goods bring a small measure of comfort to the daily lives of social welfare facilities and residents in need," District Mayor Jang said. "I am grateful to Aekyung Industrial for this meaningful act of giving, and to the Guro-gu Social Welfare Council for their efforts in making the delivery possible."
