Samsung's Bespoke AI WindFree Combo Pro wall-mount AC wins top innovation award at IFA 2026

Samsung Electronics won four innovation awards Friday (local time) at IFA 2026, Europe's largest consumer electronics trade show, which opened in Berlin, Germany. The innovation awards are a global recognition program that IFA Berlin established last year.

Samsung took home one top innovation award (Winner) and one innovation award (Honoree) in the design category, along with two innovation awards in the home appliances category, earning recognition for its technology and design competitiveness.

The Bespoke AI WindFree Combo Pro wall-mount air conditioner was a double winner, claiming both the top innovation award in the design category and an innovation award in the home appliances category. Judges gave high marks to its design as an interior object that blends naturally with its surroundings.

Samsung gave the unit a restrained flat front panel and strategically placed the ultra-precision micro-holes — the core of its WindFree function — along the bottom of the unit, achieving visual stability and a minimalist aesthetic.

The Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator won the innovation award in the design category. Samsung implemented a user-centered, intuitive interface through a large 32-inch screen built into the front of the unit.

The refrigerator features Voice ID, which identifies individual users by their voice, and Now Brief, a function that recommends personalized information, together delivering customized content including schedules, photos and health data.

An Auto Door function lets users open and close the door by voice or touch, enhancing convenience. Samsung also integrated Google Gemini with its AI Vision feature — which uses an internal camera to track ingredients in real time — significantly expanding the range of items the system can recognize.

The Bespoke AI Hybrid 4-Door Kitchen Fit Max refrigerator won an innovation award in the home appliances category. It is engineered to open fully with just 4 millimeters of clearance on each side of the door.

The design achieves a seamless built-in look without requiring custom cabinetry work. Samsung also optimized the door insulation thickness to maintain the unit's exterior dimensions while expanding interior storage capacity, improving both convenience and space efficiency.

Its AI Hybrid Cooling technology runs the compressor alone under normal conditions, then activates a Peltier semiconductor element when the door is opened frequently or large quantities of food are stored, delivering optimal cooling performance and energy efficiency.

At IFA 2026, Samsung is operating an exhibition at Humboldt Carré in Berlin under the theme "Your AI Daily Companion."
