SSG's Avila throws shutout as Doosan falls to fourth straight loss

The SSG Landers defeated the Doosan Bears on Friday behind back-to-back home runs from Jeon Eui-san and a complete-game shutout from pitcher Pedro Avila.

SSG beat Doosan 4-0 in a home game at Incheon SSG Landers Field in the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League regular season. The loss dropped fifth-place Doosan to a four-game losing streak.

SSG drew first blood in the third inning off an opponent error. Jeong Jun-jae reached second base on a catcher's throwing error following a strikeout-not-out, and Guillermo Heredia drove him in with an RBI single to left with two outs and a runner on second.

In the fourth inning, Jeon Eui-san and Jo Hyeong-u hit back-to-back solo home runs off Doosan starter Park Shin-ji with two outs, extending the lead to 3-0. Jeon added another solo shot to center in the sixth inning against reliever Lee Yong-chan, pushing the margin to 4-0.

The star of Friday's game was SSG starter Avila. He ran into trouble in the top of the eighth when a strikeout-not-out wild pitch put Ahn Jae-seok on base, a walk to Yang Seok-hwan followed, and Jo Su-haeng added an infield single to load the bases with one out. Avila escaped by inducing a shortstop grounder from Jeong Su-bin and a left-field flyout from Kim Gi-yeon. He returned to the mound in the ninth and finished without allowing a run, earning his first complete-game shutout in the KBO League.

Jeon went 2-for-3 with two home runs, two RBIs and two runs scored. Avila pitched all nine innings, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out five without giving up a run.

Avila became the third pitcher in the KBO League this season to record a shutout.
