Suseong University hosts first startup support council meeting of second half of 2026

Suseong University held the first University Startup Support Council meeting of the second half of 2026 on Tuesday at Eummaru Hall on the fourth floor of its main building.

The meeting brought together startup support officials from nine universities in the Daegu area — Suseong University, Keimyung University, Kyungpook National University, Keimyung College, Daegu Technical University, Daegu Science University, Daegu Health University, Yeungnam University of Science and Technology, and Youngjin University — comprising two four-year universities and seven two-year colleges.

The main agenda items were a proposal to develop a follow-up joint startup curriculum building on the Daegu Entrepreneurship Studies program, and an operational plan for "Nurturing New-Industry Tech Entrepreneurs," a project under the Startup City Daegu initiative.

Discussions focused first on proposals from each university to develop joint startup courses, including a tentatively titled "Daegu Startup Practicum" course put forward by Keimyung University.

The meeting also finalized plans to run the "Nurturing New-Industry Tech Entrepreneurs" program, a hands-on startup education course targeting university students in the region.

The program was designed to broaden the startup ecosystem and cultivate technology entrepreneurs who will put down roots in the local community.

It will select a total of 10 teams (about 40 participants) from prospective founders — undergraduate and graduate students — divided by application type into a domestic track (about six teams) and an overseas track focused on global market exploration (about four teams).

Selected teams will receive end-to-end startup support, including customer validation training based on the US National Science Foundation's I-Corps methodology, startup activity funding, support for building a minimum viable product, mentoring, a market validation camp (with the overseas track using inbound international students for validation), and an investor relations presentation and outcomes-sharing event.

Kang Seong-su, head of Suseong University's anchor project team, said the university would strengthen ties among member institutions "so that young people with outstanding technology and ideas can settle in Daegu and lead future industries."
